I've always used monotype or monoprint as layers within my engravings: my Happy New Year Inner Ring Road edition was mostly made up of layers of monoprint with a key block from lino over the top. I have also used monotype as a form of drawing, working out composition, tone, light and colour as well as the practical ordering of layers. More recently I've come to see them as works in their own right and as they are so connected with my views I have decided to include them on the site. The Gas Street Basin view above has been made in preparation for my next edition which is very similar.
Beautiful sun and showers at Colmore Row Arts Market last Friday. Enjoyed chatting to lots of people about my work and the 100 views project.
Looking forward to the next one which is on the 8th December. Should have the Gas St. Basin series (or miniseries) of prints ready by then.
